Best of the Best: Looking at the top returners for the ‘27s in TXPS: Part 3: Offense

It is that time of the week again. It is time for me to give my two cents on who I think is the best. If you want to know why I decided to publish this series then look at part 1.

But now all good things come to an end and this is the final part of this series. After going over everything else it is now time to go over the people who get all of the attention and are some of the best ATH’s in TXPS.

This is Sean going out with a bang: Best of the Best: Part 3 of 3: Offense

Side note: major transfers won’t be included since it’s returners-only.

Hudl: Jack Devine – Hudl

Offers: 9: San Diego State (committed), App State, Syracuse, North Texas, Cincinnati, UTSA, Coastal Carolina, Sacramento State, Georgia State

Accolades: 2025 TAPPS D2 MVP, 2025 TXPS Big School Player of the year, 2024 TAPPS D1+D2 Padilla Poll All State, 2025 TAPPS D2 All State 2nd Team, 2025 TAPPS D2 District 3 First Team All District, 2024 TXPS Media Newcomer of the Year, 2024 TAPPS D2 HM All State, 2024 TAPPS D2 District 2 First Team All District, 2025 TAPPS D1+D2 Padilla Poll All State

Explanation: The reigning D2 MVP and SDSU commit, currently has 9 D1 offers and likely more to come. He threw for a ridiculous 3500 yards and 55 TDs with a 68% completion percentage, whilst running for 741 yards and 12 TDs, oh, and he only had 6 total turnovers last season with a 146.4 QBR in 13 games. He is well built at 6’ 3 210, is a winner (3 career losses in 2 seasons started, all either on the road or neutral site, all to teams who won their respective championships), is a natural leader, a dynamic dual threat, has good mechanics, good footwork, plays really smart, can make all of the throws, hits his guys in stride, can fit it into tight windows, reads defenses well, can handle pressure, is tough, and has a cannon arm with near perfect touch. I expect him not only to be the best QB this next season, but also to lead TXPS in every passing statistic.

Hudl: Trey Davis (Robert Davis III) – Hudl

Offers: 0

Accolades: 2025 TXPS Media SPC WR of the Year, 2025 All SPC Team, 2024 All SPC Team,

Explanation: Davis led the SPC in both yards and catches in 10 games playing for Greenhill. His final stat line was 72 REC | 1131 yards | 11 TDs winning WR of the year. Size wise he is more of a Z WR archetype but plays like an X WR who dominates all CBs in his way. He has good hands, excellent athleticism, shiftiness, good routes, versatility, can block, a large wing span, can jump, has good speed, he has the ability to adjust in a scramble drill, breaks tackles well, can separate, and is a good special teams guy.

Similar to Devine, BCS will play these guys in non-district play (week 10 for some reason) and I am excited to watch him play in person and to hopefully meet him.

Offers: 2: Sam Houston State, Georgetown

Accolades: 2x TAPPS D4 State Champion (‘24, ‘25), 2025 TXPS WR of the Year, 2025 TXPS TAPPS D4 Offensive Player of the Game for the D4 State title, 2025 TAPPS D4 First Team All State, 2024 TAPPS D4 District 1 HM All District

Explanation: I was struggling to pick this one at first. But then I remembered “Oh yeah, I watched him in person have 195 yards and 3 tuddies off of 3 catches at D4 state when he destroyed all of my DB buddies who I gassed up by calling “The Swaggy Secondary” in both man and zone, and those were career highs in both yards and TDs.” Before anyone says “BcS dBs ArE bUmS” or “D4 HaS nO gOoD dBs.” I want to say that 3 BCS DBs hadn’t allowed a TD in coverage all season until we played him, and he had over 100 yards vs Bishop Lynch, Colleyville Covenant, and Holy Cross, plus a 2 TD game vs Grace Community. He has played his best against the best (and he was clutch in that CTCS game, which had a good secondary). His stat line last season was nuts: 66 REC | 1257 yards | 15 TDs in 13 games. He was a slot guy to start the season but was forced to the outside due to injuries, I also think he’d be a slot guy in college so that’s why I put him here. He has strong hands, good routes, shiftiness, versatility, can block, can separate, and is a speed demon (he runs a 10.7 in the 100 and a 22.2 in the 200). If he didn’t have so many other good WRs around him at FBA, I would predict him to win the TXPS triple crown this next season.

Accolades: 2025 TXPS Media SPC MVP, 2025 All SPC Team, 2024 All SPC Team, 2025 SPC 4A MVP, 2x SPC 4A State Champion (24, 25), 2025 Padilla Poll SPC Offensive Player of the Year

Explanation: The best RB this cycle easily is the super stud from Kinkaid, 4-star, and reigning SPC MVP: Wayne Shanks Jr.. Shanks is a smaller back by college standards at 5 ‘10, 195, but he makes up for it with his insane speed. Last year, he had this stat line: Rushing: 242 CAR | 1787 yards | 24 TDs, Receiving: 26 REC | 352 yards | 6 TDs, Passing: 2/5 | 40 yards | 1 TD, Returning: 11 returns | 322 yards | 1 TD. All in 11 games. He is fast, can break through tackles, read blocks, has strong hands, is versatile, can pass block, has good vision, cutting ability, has special teams experience, and can throw a pass or two for trick plays. One of the many colleges that are recruiting him will be very, very happy to have him on campus next year. I firmly believe that he will lead TXPS in rushing next year.

Explanation: While I personally hate the number 79, Bray wears it with enough style to make me tolerate it. He has been an anchor for the best OL in TXPS over the last two seasons. He is big at 6 ’3, 295, but he can move very well for someone his size. He is strong, loves pancake blocks, moves well, creates holes, can pass-block very well, can be a lead blocker, plays both guard and center, his snaps are good, and his dad played for TCU and was in the NFL at one point. He has 5 D1 offers, but the sheer number of camp invites and visits I know he gets makes me think he will have many more by the end of next season. There will be a college that will be happy to have him.

Offers: 6: Kansas State (committed), Baylor, UTEP, Iowa State, Air Force, Kentucky

Accolades: 2025 TXPS Media TAPPS D1 OL of the Year, 2025 TAPPS D1 First Team All State, 2024 TAPPS D1 District 1 HM All District, 2025 TAPPS D1+D2 Padilla Poll All State

Explanation: I am cheating a little bit here since he was both a guard and a center, but his highlights show him more at guard so I’m gonna roll with it. Smith is a bit of a smaller OL at 6 ‘2 295 (hey still bigger than me by a lot), but he makes up for his lack of size by being a certified stud on the interior. The K State commit can play either guard spot or center, blow DL down field with ease, has a ridiculous wing span, can pass block, run block, lead block, create big holes, be physical, is fast for an OL, pancakes like there is no tomorrow, pulls incredibly well, and is just a good football player. I hope that a college coach out there reads this and looks into him. He is a good player and a guy that I would want on my team. He has 6 D1 offers

Accolades: 2025 TAPPS D2 2nd Team All State, 2025 TAPPS D2 District 3 First Team All District

Explanation: After the graduation of Jaylen Pile from Parish last season I was disappointed because there was nobody for me to call the Michigan man anymore. But now there is: The big Canadian, Sidney Rouleau, from Brook Hill. He stands 6 ‘6, 290, and plays LT right now. His highlights are all just him pancaking dudes and creating big holes for the rest of the offense to run through. He didn’t allow a pressure or sack all year despite playing some tough competition in D2. He currently has 17 D1 offers but will almost certainly have some more by the end of his high school career. He is HUGE, strong, pancakes with no problems, can make the biggest holes in the world, can shed defenders with no issue, he is fast for an OL and can block waaayyyyy down field, he can pull as a LT, has a large wingspan, G/T versatility, and his pass pro is up there with some of the best of them. Expect big things out of him for his senior season.

Offers: 20: Air Force, Toledo, Coastal Carolina, Army, Hawaii, New Mexico, Navy, East Carolina, Yale, Charlotte, Georgia State, Samford, FIU, Memphis, PVAMU, Jax State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State, Houston Christian

Accolades: None unfortunately

Explanation: Yeah… a 6’ 6 240 TE is definitely getting the nod here (and he wears a single digit as a TE so you know he’s cold). Sneed is a really good TE in both aspects. He had 26 catches for 333 yards and 5 TDs, plus 3 2 pt conversions in 9 games. His long 6’ 6 frame, impeccable hands, good jumpball ability, ability not to get tackled, and versatility to be moved around as a WR on top of it. He is one of the best redzone threats in TXPS. But what really sells him to me as the best TE in the class is that he blocks better than any TE I’ve ever seen. He can pancake kids, be a lead blocker, run block in general, and pass protect well. He has 16 offers and has been on multiple gameday visits with big programs, so more offers are likely to come. I think he can go to a college somewhere and quickly become a fan favorite for his red zone ability.
